Santa Ana Winds Push Navy Helicopters to North Runway
The landing field's north runway is closer to the homes of residents in nearby neighborhoods.
Due to Santa Ana winds, helicopters at Naval Outlying Landing Field Imperial Beach will temporarily use the north runway closest to residents’ and the fence line for safety reasons, the Naval Base Coronado Public Affairs Office said.
The Tecate Peak fire or ash is not expected to have any impact on operations.
