What a Joy to Meet "Petals the Clown"!

It was a joy to meet Petals the Clown at the Farmers’ Market today.   I hope you like the word “JOY” because today I found a lot of it.

Do you know this special clown named Petals?  I discovered she brings such incredible joy to her work.  With such ease, she paints faces, creates balloon sculptures and gives little gifts like lollipops all for the little ones.  It was easy to see she was a major attraction for the children at the Farmers’ Market.  It was really a delight to see children and their parents gathering close to be in her presence.

I know my son who is seven years old really appreciated the balloon, the lollipop and especially the attention she gave to him.  Even when his balloon kept popping, she patiently and with joy kept restoring it with another balloon.  It simply was a pleasure to be with Petals the Clown this afternoon.  I trust others know of her and her mission to bring happiness to children.

Meeting special people in the city like Petals the Clown is what I enjoy doing.  It gives me a deeper understanding of what is happening here in this place.  It makes me love Imperial Beach all the more.

For example, I look forward to meeting you.  Or maybe you know someone in this city I should really get to know; someone who makes a significant contribution to the life of this community.  If that person is you or someone else, please let me know.  I am serious in wanting to meet the good people of this city.

It is great and actually an honor to become acquainted with the wonderful folks of this community.  I am fortunate to have already met a number of people and look forward to meeting many more.

Another great place to meet me is at church on Sunday mornings.

This Sunday at the Imperial Beach United Methodist Church, we will be observing Laity Sunday.  This is where people who are normally sitting in the pews get to take charge of the worship service and I get to sit back in the pew and be part of the congregation.  This is always a blessing.  But please come on this Sunday or any Sunday and see what is happening.  It would be great to meet you there.

...and God bless Petals the Clown!

Blessings,

Pastor John
