Woman Found Slain In South Bay Field

CHULA VISTA, CA — The body of a woman who apparently was shot to death was found Wednesday in a patch of shrubbery near the Otay River.

A passer-by made the discovery in a field behind a Smart & Final store in the 3100 block of Main Street in Chula Vista about 6:30 a.m., according to police.

"When officers arrived on scene, they located a deceased (woman) with an apparent gunshot wound," Lt. Dan Peak said.

As of late afternoon, the victim, who appeared to have been in her 20s, and her killer remained unidentified, the lieutenant said.
