IMPERIAL BEACH, CA — Emergency crews pulled a dead man out of the ocean and rescued another woman stranded on the Mexican border fence, numerous outlets report.

Emergency crews were called to the Border Field State Park beach just after 8 a.m., a San Diego city official told ABC10. San Diego Lifeguards, the U.S. Border Patrol and a Coast Guard helicopter responded, according to Fox5.

In October, one woman died and 36 people were detained after as many as 70 people tried to swim around the fence.

State officials have said that that beach does not mean health and safety standards, and issued a water contact closure that extends from the border to the Silver Strand shoreline.
