• Indio Monroe Street freeway interchange clears milestone as officials set cost-sharing rules for cities (theindiopost.com) — Indio will shoulder nearly 65% of the local funding for the long-planned I-10/Monroe Street interchange, a $181 million project expected to start construction in early 2027 and open in 2029. Regional officials just approved the formula that decides how much each Coachella Valley city pays, with final dollar amounts to be locked in after construction bids come in this fall. 
• Soccer coach who molested Coachella Valley girl sentenced (kesq.com) — A Riverside County judge at Indio’s Larson Justice Center sentenced a Menifee soccer coach to two years of mandatory supervision, work release, and sex offender registration after he admitted lewd acts involving a Coachella Valley girl. Prosecutors had sought a state prison term, but the court opted for probation-style supervision instead, following an investigation into his online and in‑person contact with the minor.
• Rideshare driver says he was attacked by passenger, then deactivated by company (kesq.com) — A 72-year-old rideshare driver says he was violently assaulted by a passenger during a 2:30 a.m. pickup in Indio, suffering multiple facial fractures and head injuries. He also says Uber later deactivated his account over the incident, and he’s now urging stronger protections for drivers attacked while working, as police investigate and the company has yet to publicly respond.
