1. 60 People Arrested During Head Trip Festival In Indio (patch.com) — Indio residents should be aware that 60 people were arrested during last weekend’s Head Trip festival at the Empire Polo Club, mostly for drug and ID-related offenses. Police have also closed Avenue 50 between Madison and Monroe through Oct. 19, so drivers are urged to expect delays and use alternate routes like Highway 111, Avenue 48, or Avenue 52.
   

2. Charges dismissed against Palm Desert man formerly accused of causing drug death (kesq.com) — A Riverside County judge at Indio’s Larson Justice Center has dismissed involuntary manslaughter and drug sales charges against a Palm Desert man tied to a 2025 meth-related death, citing insufficient evidence to proceed to trial. The ruling ends the case after a months-long Cathedral City police investigation and leaves the defendant with no current felony convictions in the county.
   

3. Parolee who shot man 12 times in street confrontation convicted of murder (kesq.com) — An Indio jury has convicted a Beaumont man of first-degree murder for a 2015 shooting on an Indio street, where the victim was hit by 12 shots after a vehicle confrontation. The long-delayed case, among the county’s oldest unresolved murders, will move to a bench trial Friday on prior strikes before sentencing at the Larson Justice Center in Indio.
   

4. Matchbox Twenty Announces 52-Date North American 30th Anniversary Tour (time.news) — Matchbox Twenty’s 30th anniversary tour will include a stop close to home, with the band playing the Stagecoach Festival in Indio on April 25, 2027, ahead of a 52-date North American run. Local fans will have multiple presale options starting October 20, 2026, before general tickets go on sale October 23.
