📰 News we're reading

1. LA Agency Issues $220M Affordable Housing Bond (multihousingnews.com) — Inglewood residents could soon see major new affordable housing as a 121-unit project, Sankofa Place at Centinela, moves toward groundbreaking with fresh funding from a $220 million county social bond. Targeted to households earning 30–80% of area median income, the development will also host a new headquarters for the Social Justice Learning Institute, expanding local services and community support.

2. Bryan Bostic: Questions remain after death in Inglewood PD custody (thelalocal.org) — Inglewood residents are being urged to stay engaged as investigations continue into the in-custody death of Compton resident Bryan Bostic after an Inglewood police traffic stop. Six months on, his family is still marching from Nutwood and Hillcrest to Inglewood City Hall, pressing for answers about officers’ force, paramedic decisions, and pending wrongful-death claims against the city and county agencies.

3. Residents seek to have councilwoman give up one seat (wavepublication.com) — Inglewood residents are challenging Councilwoman Gloria Gray’s decision to hold both a City Council seat and a West Basin Municipal Water District seat, arguing the dual roles conflict under state law and hurt local representation. Because Inglewood buys most of its water from West Basin, Gray has recused herself on key rate votes, and residents now seek a court ruling that she must give up one office.

4. Orbit Culture share new single 'Nuclear God' (nextmosh.com) — Metal band Orbit Culture is heading to YouTube Theater in Inglewood on December 4 as part of a North American tour with Trivium, In Flames, and Frozen Soul. The show follows the October 9 release of a deluxe edition of their album "Death Above Life" and a new video for their track "Nuclear God," built from recent festival footage.

5. Jay-Z surprises Paris audience with Justin Timberlake, Pharrell Williams (thegrio.com) — Jay-Z’s anniversary tour is set to wrap up with two huge shows at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood on October 23 and 24, giving local fans a rare chance to see him close out the run at home. His recent Paris stop featured surprise performances from Justin Timberlake and Pharrell, hinting that Inglewood crowds could see similarly big onstage cameos.
