• Stolen Food Bank truck pursuit leads to DUI arrest (ledger.news) — A box truck belonging to the Interfaith Food Bank of Amador County was stolen near Save Mart in Jackson, sparking a brief pursuit through town before the suspect was arrested and the truck caught fire. Although recovered, the grant-funded vehicle is now unusable, leaving the Jackson-based food bank short a critical truck for picking up rescue groceries.
• Climate-Resilient Experimental House Adapts to Changing Weather (homecrux.com) — An experimental "Null House" prototype has been built on a 9-acre property in Jackson showcasing climate-resilient, off-grid design aimed at low-income communities. Using recycled materials, solar power, rainwater harvesting, and a raised footprint to protect wildlife, the project offers a model for affordable, sustainable single-family homes in Northern California's lower-income areas.
