The 2015 Thanksgiving Day Run and Food Drive is Almost Here!

The Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge is proud to present the 22nd annual Thanksgiving Day Run and Food Drive! The Run has been a staple event in the community for two decades, and people of all ages are invited to come out and get a little exercise in before their big Thanksgiving meals. The Thanksgiving Day Run is a 5k that begins at Memorial Park in La Cañada Flintridge. Runners travel west along Foothill Boulevard, turn around at Castle Lane, and run back along Foothill to end the race back at Memorial park. There is also a Kid’s Mile full of smiles and energy for the little ones in which parents can run along with their children at no additional cost.

Participants are free to take the 5k at whatever pace they please, because our primary goal is to make sure everyone has a good time with their friends and family. However, for the serious runners, the race is professionally timed and awards will be given to the top runners in each category, so be sure to keep your competitive nature in check in the spirit of Thanksgiving. Every child that runs in the Kid’s Mile can expect a small award for their tremendous accomplishment.

With over a thousand attendees in 2014, we expect this year’s event to be the biggest and best so far. All of the proceeds from this event go to help support the Community Center of La Cañada Flintridge’s year-round programs for kids, teens, adults, and seniors. Non-perishable food collected all throughout November and on the day of the run will be distributed by the Crescenta Valley Sherriff’s Station to those in need.
