28th Annual Golf Classic a Success for Local Foundations

Together the Desi Geestman Foundation and the Crescenta Valley Sheriff Support Group raise more than $15,500 in charity golf event.

Close to 75 people participated in the 28th Annual Golf Classic hosted at the La Cañada Country Club on Monday afternoon. Sponsored by the Desi Geestman Foundation and the Crescenta Valley Sherriff Support Group, the event was able to raise more than $15,000.

“This is a wonderful event that La Cañada was able to put for us,” head of the event Rick Dinger said. “The $15,000 we raised will be split amongst the two charities. Out here we got half from the Sherriff’s department and the other half from the foundation. Combining the two introduces each group to different parties. This is a win-win type of adventure.”

The event was a success, as each member paid $200, with most of which went to charity. The golfers were treated to beverages, lunch and dinner, along with awards and prizes.

“This is a great event for a worthy cause,” Captain Dave Silversparr said. “I am very excited about the quantity of the community support, as well as the rescue team and the support stations that helped make this event possible.”
