The corridor includes Lanterman Auditorium, athletic fields and courts, the Community Center at 4469 Chevy Chase Drive and nearby public facilities. It is roughly bounded by Foothill Boulevard and Atlee Avenue, extending from Chevy Chase toward the flood control channel.

Community members will join city and school district representatives to study the area's opportunities and limitations, share community perspectives and develop preliminary recommendations, officials said. The group will consider how the corridor can better serve students, residents and community organizations, with recommendations going to the City Council and District Governing Board for consideration.

"Collaborating with LCUSD on the Cornishon Corridor allows us to thoughtfully plan for the evolving needs of our students, families and residents," Mayor Jeanne Kim Hobson said in a statement. "This Working Group will help identify new opportunities as the community works together to achieve a shared vision for the future."

Officials seek applicants with varied perspectives, relevant experience and an understanding of community needs, according to the city's announcement. Key credentials include with experience in youth sports, architecture and facility design, finance, senior programs and services, early childhood education and the performing arts.

Prospective appointees were encouraged to describe their ties to the corridor and how their experience or perspective could contribute to the group's work.

Members should be ready to participate actively, consider a range of ideas and attend monthly meetings, with additional meetings as needed.

Interviews are tentatively scheduled to begin Nov. 13 at 9 a.m., officials said.

To submit applications, go to the City Clerk's Office at City Hall or online. More information is available by calling 818-790-8880.
