LOS ANGELES, CA — An autopsy was pending Tuesday on a badly decomposed body found near Angeles Forest Highway in the Angeles National Forest north of La Cañada Flintridge.
The body was discovered around 12:15 p.m. Monday, prompting an investigation by sheriff's homicide detectives.
Los Angeles County firefighters and sheriff's deputies were sent to the highway in response to a report of a vehicle over the side, but no vehicle was found, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said the "badly decomposed" body, that of a man, was found along the highway at mile marker 20.79. Information was not immediately available on the person's age.
