Los Angeles County firefighters and sheriff's deputies were sent to the highway in response to a report of a vehicle over the side, but no vehicle was found, according to the California Highway Patrol. Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said the "badly decomposed" body, that of a man, was found along the highway at mile marker 20.79.
