Crime Blotter: AT&T Store Hit Again, Mailboxes Bashed

Home Window Smashed
A female resident in the 4800 block of Hampton Road reported to deputies that at approximately 9:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31, someone threw a tennis ball-sized rock through her bedroom window while she was sleeping. The rock broke the window glass and wooden shutter blind on the interior side of the window. Damage was reported at $700.
Third Visit by Burglars

A resident in the 1900 block of Tondolea Lane reported to deputies that for the third time in six months his car had been burglarized while parked in his residence’s driveway.
The victim reported that some time between 11 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, and 7 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3., the rear window of his locked 2010 Chevy Tahoe SUV was smashed and his briefcase stolen from inside. The briefcase contained a leather notebook valued at $200, a Gucci wallet valued at $500, a Blackberry cell phone valued at $100 and a key ring containing keys. Damage was estimated at $600.

The victim reported that he had filed a previous report about a month prior when his briefcase was stolen from his unlocked vehicle and later found in the bushes by a neighbor. Deputies were unable to locate the report number via their mobile computer.
The victim also noted that six months earlier coins had been stolen from the car’s center console while it was parked, unlocked in the driveway, but he did not file a report at that time.
Bad Weekend For Mailboxes
A resident in the 4200 block of Commonwealth Avenue reported to deputies that sometimes between 3 p.m. Friday, Nov. 4, and 4 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7, her mailbox, possibly containing an unkown amount of mail, was ripped from its post located about 100 feet across the street from her residence.
A resident in the 4800 block of Gould Avenue reported her mailbox damaged beyond repair someime between 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, and 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 6. Deputies noted that the damage to the aluminum mailbox appeared to have been cause by a baseball bat or heavy stick. The mailbox had been mounted on a post located at the end of the residence’s driveway.
Golf Bag Stolen from Trunk
A resident in the 4800 block of Carmel Road reported finding his golf bag stolen from the trunk of his 2010 Volkswagen Jetta on the morning of Monday, Nov. 7. The locked car had been parked in the driveway of his residence since the previous night. Deputies noted no signs of forced entry. The golf bag, valued at $140, contained a GPW Bushnell Pinseeker rangefinder valued at $400, assorted golf clubs valued at $1,311, a bagboy pull cart valued at $74, a sweater and a rain suit, combined value of $130.
iPhones Swiped Again
A manager of the , 895 Foothill Blvd., reported to deputies that on the afternoon of Monday, Nov. 7, two Apple 4S iPhones, each valued at $649, were stolen from the store’s iPhone display counter. The manager told deputies that he noticed the suspect, described as a male with black hair, 25-30 years old, 5 feet 9 inches and 170 pounds, enter the store and go straight to where the iPhones were located. The manager reported observing the suspect pulling on the security cords that keep the iPhones tethered to the display table. As the suspect then moved to exit the store, the manager blocked his path, but fearing the suspect may have a weapon, moved aside and let the suspect exit with the iPhones. He then observed the suspect walk through the store parking lot before running out toward Houseman Street and out of view.
Surveillance footage was made available to deputies. The report noted that one security cord had been severed by a sharp object while the other phone appeared to have been pulled free of the security cord.
