Crime Blotter: Man Charged with Attempt to Cut Cables

The following incidents were reported to the Crescenta Valley Sheriff's Station. Arrests do not indicate convictions.

Attempted Grand Theft near Angeles National Forest

On April 22, two security officers of Electrical Contractors Inc. reported an attempted grand theft of 12 industry-related items. These items included a tool box, a generator, black rope, bolt cutters, bolt harnesses, saws, extension cords, electric cables, a cross bow, arrows, and a chain. Two days before, the officers had told the company’s security manager that they had found a mix of industry-related equipment hiding underneath a bush near Rincon Shortcut Trail of Angeles National Forest. The recent thefts of electrical cables in the nearby areas made the security manager believe that the tools were placed in the spot to be later used to steal the cables. On April 22, a man had called the security manager, asking him if he had seen a generator and tools that he had misplaced. That man stated that the tools were to be used to prepare for a mountain bike race. After giving vague answers during a questioning session by the police, the man was taken to the Crescenta Valley Police Station and charged for attempted grand theft.
