Crime Blotter: Robberies of Jewelry Worth $20,000+

$24,000 in Jewelry Stolen

A 73-year-old La Cañada female told the police on May 16 about a burglary at her home on the 5300 block of Stardust Road.  When she arrived home, she found the rooms ransacked and the contents of drawers thrown on the floor in large piles. A pearl necklace worth $3,000, a white gold wedding band worth $1,000, a white gold engagement ring worth $20,000, a pearl necklace worth $3,000, and two hand guns were stolen. The police determined that the robber(s) entered through the back sliding glass door.

Handgun, Jewelry Stolen

On May 16, a La Cañada female contacted the police regarding a burglary at her home on the 4700 block of Groveland Lane. Someone broke into her house through a side gate, unlocking the door by reaching through an aluminum window frame. She was robbed of a Browning handgun, two white gold rings of $2,000 value, a $700 gold necklace, and an iPad worth $900.

Apple Products Nabbed

A 55-year-old La Cañada male reported a burglary at his house on the 2000 block of Ahlin Drive on May 16. When the man returned home, he found the front door partially open and the doors throughout the patio area left completely open.  The patio doors had been closed, but not locked. A laptop computer, an iPod, and two iPhones, totaling $1490, were found to be missing.

Wires Cut at Gas Station

A case of vandalism was reported by a 29-year-old male at the Union 76 gas station on 1540 Foothill Boulevard in La Cañada. The man was checking gas pump number two in the morning when he discovered that the door to the card reader was open. He found the wiring to the card reader had been cut. A surveillance video revealed the wires being cut as well.

Forgery Suspect Found

On May 17, a case of grand theft was reported at the 4500 block of Vineta Avenue in La Cañada. A police officer stopped 33-year-old Tujunga resident Arno Abramian and recognized him as a forgery suspect on a wanted flier. The office discovered that Abramian had in his possession a credit card that did not belong to him. During an investigation, stolen checks of $1,063.54 were also found. Abramian was booked at the Crescenta Valley Police Station.
