Crime Blotter: Snacks Swiped at Mini-Mart

The following reports were taken from the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department, Crescenta Valley Station. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.

Residential Burglary

At 9 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, a resident in the 500 block of Highland Drive returned home to find the kitchen door of his residence forced open and a face print on the door, as though someone had been looking in from the outside. The victim told deputies that he had walked through the house and found items missing from several rooms, including a handgun that he noted as having been well hidden.

According to the report, many valuables in plain sight remained untouched. The victim believed the burglary to be the work of someone familiar with the house and told deputies that a cleaning crew had been in the residence that day. Reported stolen were a .44 magnum semi-automatic handgun, a Sony Playstation, Apple MacBook, and Apple iPad with a combined value of $,1800.

Snack Time at Chevron Extra Mile

 An employee at the , 623 Foothill Blvd., reported to deputies that at approximately 3 a.m. on Saturday, June 18, a male suspect made off with $30 worth of refrigerated snacks including Hot Pockets, deli sandwiches, and microwaveable burritos. The employee reported that the suspect came into the station’s store, started browsing aisles, and asked if beer was sold. The employee then reportedly started a conversation with the suspect, who told her his name was Kevin or Alex. The suspect appeared drunk to the employee.

Kevin or Alex allegedly scooped up a number of food items from a refrigerated case and brought them to the checkout, where the employee scanned them and placed the snacks in a plastic bag. The employee reported that she glanced at the cash register for just a moment and the suspect fled the store. He reportedly hopped into the driver’s side back seat of an older model silver Honda civic and was driven away by another person. The suspect was described as a white male, 5’9”, 200 pounds and about 20 years old, going by the name Kevin or Alex.

Rash of Smashed Car Windows

At 7:45 a.m. Monday, a resident in the 300 block of Santa Inez Way reported that front passenger window of his car shattered while it was parked on the street in front of his house. And iPod holder was reported stolen.

At 1 p.m. on Monday, a woman in the 4900 block of Crown Avenue found the driver’s side window of her 2005 BMW Mini-Cooper smashed. Nothing was taken from inside the car and her purse was found where she had left it locked in the trunk.

At 6:30 p.m. Monday, a vehicle left locked and parked in front of a residence in the 4600 block of Gould Avenue was found with the right front window smashed. The victim reported to deputies that a Garmin GPS worth $150 and music CDs valued at $40 were taken from the car’s glove compartment.

On Tuesday, at 7 a.m., a male resident of the 4900 block of Gould Avenue reported the right front window of his car smashed while parked on the street. The car’s doors were locked but the center console and glove compartment were found open. Reported stolen was an iPod Nano valued at $220.
