Updated: Earthquake Rattles Foothills

Updated Friday: The Southern California Earthquake Data Center reduced the temblor back to magnitude 4.2.

Earlier: A magnitude 4.3 earthquake rocked the foothills this afternoon, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Shaking began at 1:47 p.m., about four miles from Newhall and five miles from Pacoima, USGS reported.

At least 19 people in the Santa Clarita area said they felt the earthquake, according to the agency.

A sheriff's deputy at the said no residents had reported any damage or injury from the earthquake.
