Local Vons Raises Funds for Residents with Disabilities

The Vons store located at 635 West Foothill Boulevard recently announced that, during the month of April, they will help raise money for the services provided by nonprofit Easter Seals Disability Services for people with disabilities. Customers will be given the opportunity to make a contribution at the check-out counter to support the organization. The donations from the month-long campaign will aid Easter Seals programs like job training, pre-school and after-school services, as well as independent living options and services to help adults learn daily living and social skills.

Easter Seals has been operating over the past 90 years and the partnership with Vons is in its seventh year.

“Easter Seals Southern California has seen first-hand the positive impact of the money raised by Vons and Pavilions stores in the last seven years of this campaign for people with disabilities,” commented Mark Whitley, chief executive officer of Easter Seals Southern California, in a statement. “With a continuing difficult economy and more state cuts for services to people with disabilities across California, their financial support is as important as ever.”

In 2011, over $1 million was raised by the People with Disabilities Campaign for the Easter Seals of Southern California.
