Starting off the annual summer series was Jimmy Branly, a Cuban born percussionist, accompanied by bassist, Rene Camacho, and pianist, Armando Ruiz. The trio played several latin classics such as, "Comparsa," "Beseme Mucho," and "Caravan." Jimmy, Rene, and Armando played with ease, passion and full engagement. The trio had the crowd - children included  - thoroughly engaged as well. Jimmy Branly and crew set the stage for a series of summer jazz events. The Summer Jazz Concert Series at Descanso Gardens takes place every Thursday through Aug. 25, 2011.
