Red Bull Burglaries Spike in the Foothills

LCF's Ralphs loses 504 cans of the energy drink in a crime that is eerily similar to recent shoplifting incidents in La Crescenta.

Red Bull is a hot commodity in the foothills.

Literally.

On Sunday, two suspects snatched 504 cans of the energy drink worth $1,200 from the at 521 Foothill Blvd. They fled in a Toyota SUV.

Over the Fourth of July weekend, the La Crescenta Ralphs at 2675 Foothill Blvd. lost a total of 22 six-pack cartons of Red Bull in two incidents to a male shoplifter who allegedly loaded the loot into his Black Scion. 

According to the report provided by the , at 5:08 p.m. Sunday, a manger of the La Cañada store observed on a surveillance camera two men, described as having black hair, brown eyes, in their 20s and both between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, enter the store with a cart and proceed directly to the area where Red Bull is displayed.

The two suspects then allegedly filled the cart with 504 cans before walking out the front door failing to pay for the beverages. Surveillance footage shows the duo loading up and taking off in a blue Toyota SUV, the report states.

Earlier this month, Montrose Patch reported on a similar case of Red Bull burglary.

Red Bull Bandits Strikes Ralphs Twice

 at 2675 Foothill Blvd. reported , both involving a male suspect, a black Scion, and Red Bull energy drink.

At 6:05 p.m. July 3, a clerk at Ralphs reported to a store manager that he witnessed two men leave with a cart brimming with Red Bull and Arrowhead water, but had not seen the men pay for the items.

The clerk said he watched the suspects push the cart to the front of the store, run out the doors, then unload the beverages into a black, late model four-door Scion XB. The clerk said the vehicle was then driven westbound on Foothill Blvd.

The suspects reportedly made off with 10 six-packs of 10-ounce Red Bull valued at $199.90 and one case of 12-ounce Arrowhead water valued at $5.99.

Then, on July 5 at 12:14 p.m., a Ralphs customer told a store manager that he saw a man walk out of the store with a hand basket full of Red Bull cans, but had not seen the man pay. The manager exited the store to search for the man. A witness claimed to have seen a shoplifter get into a black Scion XB with no license plates. The car reportedly drove westbound on Foothill Blvd. 

The four Red Bull 12-packs valued at $89.56 and a plastic, hand-carry Ralphs shopping basket were valued at $20.

Video surveillance footage revealed a male suspect between 30 and 39-years-old, approximately 6 feet tall and 175 pounds, with a full beard and balding head.
