Tending The Wild - How to Get Around the Road Closure to Chilao
Kat High will present on Native American Land Management on Saturday, April 13 at Chilao School. Here's how to get there, illustrated.
Here's your sign(s) for Tending The Wild - Native American Land Management with Kat High on Saturday, April 13 at Chilao School. Kat High is making a plethora of native foods to sample, and I needed an excuse to make pulled pork - I mean javelina. So as you are traveling north on Angeles Crest Highway, when you see the first sign you will be turning left within about a quarter mile. You will eventually cross a bridge and go through a tunnel and then after a few turns you will come to a straight-away and there will be a fire station on the left. You will make a right just after that fire station on Upper Big Tujunga Canyon. When you get to the top of the road 9 miles later, you will turn left, you'll be back on Angeles Crest, and you'll go six more miles to Chilao campground and follow signs to Chilao School. Says Kat regarding her culinary offerings: "Im bringing elderflower fizz, mesquite cookies, acorn bread, and spring greens and wild mushroom frittata - butterfly bites."
Make sure you have gas in your vehicle. There are no gas stations up here. This event is open to everyone. There is no charge but donations are appreciated. This is our season opening event at Chilao School. You can find the event on Facebook:
