95K Gallons Of Sewage Foul Laguna Beach
The sewage spill closed down a large portion of the Laguna Beach coastline to swimmers and surfers Wednesday.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A portion of the Laguna Beach coastline was closed to swimmers and surfers Wednesday due to a 94,500-gallon sewage spill, county health officials reported.
The sewage spill was reported Wednesday and affects the beach stretching from Laguna Avenue to Blue Lagoon.
Health officials report that the spill was caused by a break in a "force main sewer line" in Laguna Beach.

"The affected bay water area will remain closed to ocean water- contact sports until the results of follow-up water quality monitoring meet acceptable standards," according to OCHCA.
OC District 5 Supervisor Katrina Foley issued a statement Wednesday addressing the situation.

“I strongly urge Laguna Beach residents, visitors, and tourists to heed the warnings of public health experts and avoid the beach. I am monitoring the situation to ensure we protect public health and our beaches,” Foley said.
“The Health Care Agency will continue testing the water to determine when the beach is safe to re-open.”
