Boat Destroyed After Running Aground In Laguna Beach
The incident was reported Thursday night and prompted officials to shut down the northern portion of Victoria Beach.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A boat ran aground on rocks at the north end of Victoria Beach, not far from the Laguna Beach pirate tower, closing the shore while city crews work to clean up debris.
The boat was found by city lifeguards at around 8:10 p.m. Thursday, city officials said.
Laguna Beach Lifeguard Capt. Kai Bond told The Orange County Register that lifeguard, police and fire responded and searched the vessel, but found no one on board.

“Because the boat was on the rocks and there was surf, it became a removal and cleanup,” Bond told the newspaper. “The cleanup effort went on all night and is expected to continue throughout the day into the afternoon.”
According to the Coast Guard, the ship was based out of Belmont Shore in Long Beach and may have lost an anchor and floated away from where it had last been moored.
