Boys & Girls Club Receives $20K Grant For New Tech In Laguna Beach
The local nonprofit recently received a grant from Cox Communications to bring new technology tools to Laguna Beach kids.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A local nonprofit just received a $20,000 grant from Cox Communications to help bring innovative technology to the kids of Laguna Beach.
The Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach received the grant to bring new tools to its Innovation Lab. The grand was commemorated during a ceremony held by the nonprofit on Oct. 4.
According to the nonprofit, the technology-filled Innovation Labs are "the cornerstone" of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Club Tech Program, which provides students access to curriculum to advance their computer skills.

The Innovation Labs also help bridge the digital divide for children without access to a computer or internet connection at home, the nonprofit said.
“We are incredibly grateful for Cox Communications’ investment in our young people's lives and futures through this revitalized Innovation Lab,” Pamela Estes, chief executive officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Laguna Beach, said in a statement. “We are excited to be able to inspire and encourage the next generation of innovators in this cutting-edge STEAM space to develop the critical thinking skills and creativity to solve unforeseen challenges that the future will hold.”

According to the B&G Club statement, the Cox Innovation Lab also gives children the freedom to explore their interest in STEM through new technology.
The lab features laptop computers, Chromebooks, a video production suite, 3D printers, microscopes, drones and more.
