City Manager's Home Vandalized With Sewage, Defecation In Laguna Beach

The vandalism was reported at 7:27 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 on 3rd Street and may have occurred early that morning or late Wednesday night.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach police officers are currently investigating an act of vandalism to the Laguna Beach home is City Manager Shohreh Dupuis, the city said in a statement.

The vandalism was reported at 7:27 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 and is believed to have occurred early that morning or late Wednesday night.

When officers arrived, they found "feces or sewage" smeared around the property including on the house, mailbox, planters, stairs and in the front yard.

Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Whalen condemned the act of vandalism in a statement.

"As a City, we will not tolerate any acts to intimidate or harm any city employee or appointed or elected official. Our City Manager is a dedicated and hard-working person who only wants the best for our residents and the City," Whalen said in a statement. "Her job is hard enough without the added stress and anxiety that this type of attack creates. She doesn’t deserve this disrespect, and I fully expect our community to rally around her."

According to the news release, the home is technically city property — with the city owning half of the home and Dupuis owning the other half.

“The Police Department is actively investigating this vandalism,” Laguna Beach Police Chief Jeff Calvert said. “We urge anyone with information about the vandalism to come forward to identify the suspect in this cruel act, which is uncharacteristic of our community.”
