LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” Laguna Beach Police, Fire and Marine Safety Departments joined law enforcement agencies across the country in the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Southern California Thursday.

The run is the largest public awareness campaign and grassroots fundraiser for Special Olympics, with more than 2,000 officers involved in Southern California championing acceptance and inclusion, according to a city statement.

β€œThe Police, Fire, and Marine Safety Departments did an amazing job being the Guardians of the Flame and carrying the Special Olympics Flame of Hope through Laguna Beach to Newport Beach," Laguna Beach City Manager Shohreh Dupuis said. "The Flame of Hope is a symbol for courage and unity for Special Olympics athletes, who are a beacon of hope and bring joy to those around them."
