City Sees Decrease In Violent And Property Crimes Over 2022
The Laguna Beach Police Department gave an update on the city's 2022 crime statistics at its Tuesday meeting. Here's what to know.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach saw a 2 percent decrease in Violent and Property Crime in the city from 2021, the city's police department said in a presentation Tuesday.
The news comes after City Council members heard from Laguna Beach Police Department Chief Jeff Calvert, who gave a presentation on the city's 2022 crime statistics.
According to Calvert, the Laguna Beach Police Department made a total of 1,165 arrests in 2022, with the top three being DUI/alcohol arrests, drug-related arrests and disorderly conduct arrests.

The top three crash factors in the city were speeding, unsafe lane changes and alcohol, he said.
Calvert also said that LBPD's average emergency response times are faster than the nation's average, with the department's Priority 1 response time being 4.18 seconds and the department's Priority 2 response time being 5.56 seconds.

The nation's average response times are 5 seconds for a Priority 1 call and 20 seconds for a Priority 2 call.
Lastly, Calvert said the top three parking violations in the city were missing or expired registration tags, street sweeping and expired parking lot permits.
