Come Up On Compost, Meet Laguna Beach Arborist At City Event

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Are you on the market for some all-natural fertilizer? Do you want to get it free of charge? The City of Laguna Beach giving away 20 tons of organic compost Saturday, and residents are invited to participate while supplies last.

Residents who attend the event will not only have access to the best compost the city has to offer, but a chance to catch up with the city's local arborist to learn more about the benefits of composting in your own yard.

While the compost is free, residents will have to get their hands dirty if they want to take some home. Participating residents are asked to bring gloves, shovels, proof of residence and five-gallon containers to the event, as you will be asked to scoop your own compost.

Residents are permitted to take up to five buckets or containers home, the city said. If you do not have a bucket or container, residents can still fill up to three bags to take home.

The City of Laguna Beach's compost giveaway event takes place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday at the City Maintenance Facilities, 1900 Laguna Canyon Rd.
