"Contemporary Abstraction," has just been extended to run to August 20, 2016. The exhibit was juried by Ellie Blankfort and can be seen in the unique exhibition space known as The CAP Gallery at 260 Ocean Ave., Second Floor.
The exhibit showcases the works of Kate Cohen, Halverson Frazier and Fred Hope. The works are created from the artists' planning and free thinking of space, colours, textures and materials used. Cohen brings whimsy, surrealism and symbolism as parts of her inspiration. Frazier works from metaphor, memory and mutations that can occur over time. Hope prefers the landscape, but it is the medium of oil and the way it moves when he is applying it to the surface, texture and shape. This significant show gives viewers and opportunity to experience three diverse views and approaches to the world of Abstract Art in a cohesively hung display.
CAP's mission is to increase the visibility and appreciation of Art and serve as a catalyst for Art Education. CAP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit funded by the member supporters, the lodging establishments, the City of Laguna Beach, and Wells Fargo Bank.
