CR&R Replaces Laguna Beach's Waste Collection Services Starting July 1
New cans will replace the old, as CR&R promises residents they understand busy Orange County summer traffic.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA—Laguna Beach residents will soon see new waste collection and recycling bins at their homes as CR&R replaces Waste Management as the city's new trash collection service.
The city will save approximately $1.7 million annually with the many services provided by CR&R, according to Laguna Beach Mayor Sue Kempf. The trash service will transition on July 1, with a few differences, including a quarterly bill charged directly to each address, choices of bin sizes, and recycling and organic bins, Senior Public Works analyst Liz Avila said. There will be additional bulk and hazardous waste collection, as well as needle mailbacks for those who need the service.
According to Avila, trash receptacles will be replaced with new CR&R bins over the next week. “CR&R has a lot of experience in transitioning cities,” she told the OC Register in a recent article. "If they get a bin they don’t want, they can call CR&R and schedule an exchange.”

For those worried about the traffic, steep hills and switchbacks of Laguna Beach streets, a CR&R spokesperson says they can handle those hurdles.
Avila told the Register that the new waste collection company services Catalina Island and 17 other Orange County cities. “CR&R brings a high level of experience, and they have experience navigating through high traffic during the summer.”
