Festival Of Arts Celebrates 90 Years With Celebration In Laguna Beach

For free art projects, photo booths, live music and giveaways, residents can mark their calendars for the celebration.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach residents looking to join in on the celebration of the summer, pull out your calendars — the Festival of Arts is turning ninety.

To commemorate ninety years of community art, the festival — in partnership with the City of Laguna Beach — is hosting a 90th Birthday Bash celebration on Aug. 13.

The free community event will offer residents the chance to participate in birthday-themed art projects, photo booths, giveaways and free admission to the annual Fine Art Show. In addition, the celebration will feature live music with Grammy-nominated musician and bass player Hall of Famer Lee Rocker, according to a Festival of Arts News release.

ā€œReflecting on its humble beginnings in 1932, the Festival of Arts has grown into a world-famous cultural institution,ā€ Marketing and Public Relations Director Sharbie Higuchi said in a news release. ā€œTo celebrate our history and community, we’ve planned a day filled with fun surprises. We’re going to rock this town, and we look forward to welcoming the entire city to join us.ā€

The daylong celebration will also feature works from Festival of Arts President David Perry and Laguna Beach Mayor Sue Kempf, as well as a presentation of proclamations and awards to two artists who have exhibited their work at the Fine Art Show for fifty years.

From noon to 3 p.m. on the day of the party, residents can make their own festive party hats at the festival's Art Center and take photos in the celebratory photo booth. Children of all ages can enjoy balloon artists onsite, and attendees can enjoy a 3 p.m. cupcake reception.

The Festival of Arts 90th Birthday Bash starts at noon Aug. 13. Residents who wish to attend receive free admission to the art show only, excluding Pageant of the Masters.
