Freak Accident As Car Runs Over Its Owner On N. Coast Highway

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A 50-year-old woman was run over by her own car, Laguna Beach Police Sgt. Jim Cota said in what has been described as a "freak accident."

On Tuesday, police and fire responded to the 700 block of N. Coast Highway where a woman became trapped between her car and a wall, Laguna Beach Fire Department Division Cheif Api Weinert told StuNews Laguna.

"The woman exited her vehicle and discovered it was rolling backward," he explained. Though she tried to get back inside the rolling car, she became caught.

At that point, the woman was "run over by her vehicle," Cota said.

She was taken by ambulance to Mission Hospital in Mission Viejo to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
