As usual, too much to do this weekend! But Laguna Beach Patch has your picks ...

BOOK EVENT WITH CO-AUTHORS JUDGE SAM L. AMIRANTE AND DANNY BRODERICK
WHERE/WHEN: , 1200 S. Coast Hwy. Thursday, 5 p.m.
WHY GO? The authors will speak about their book, John Wayne Gacy: Defending a Monster. They will answer questions and sign copies.
PRICE: Free.

BENEFIT CONCERT FOR THE JAKE RHYNER FAMILY AND LAGUNA BEACH HIGH SCHOOL’S NEWSPAPER
WHERE/WHEN: Laguna Beach High School , 625 Park Ave. Friday, 7 p.m.
WHY GO? Sixty percent of the proceeds made will go to benefit Jake Rhyner and his family, and the other 40 percent goes to help pay for the school newspaper, the Brush and Palette. There will be a special performance by math teacher Gary Shapiro. The Sasha Evans Band, Your Ugly Sister and the fantastic cigar-box guitar madness of the Budrows will also be there.

STOP CHILD TRAFFICKING NOW ORANGE COUNTY WALK/RUN 2011
WHERE/WHEN: . Saturday, 8:30 a.m.
WHY GO? By walking or running, you can help bring an end to child sex slavery in our cities and in our nation once and for all. It’s simple to register and raise funds.
PRICE: Free.

AIDS SERVICES FOUNDATION ORANGE COUNTY RED BALL FUNDRAISING EVENT
WHERE/WHEN: grounds. Saturday, 6-10 p.m.
WHY GO? There will be a tribute to Elizabeth Taylor, a live musical revue featuring Jason Graae and the Fois Graaes in a Hollywood-themed song-and-dance spoof, and fashion designer and Project Runway finalist Mondo Guerra will appear.
PRICE: $250 and up.

FREE FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
WHERE/WHEN: , 31106 S. Coast Hwy. Saturday, 7 p.m.
WHY GO? You can watch How to Train Your Dragon under the stars on a giant screen. There will be food and drinks available for purchase (full bar). Bring picnic blankets to lay on the grass. This is the LAST movie of the summer.
PRICE: Free.

TASTE OF LAGUNA BEACH
WHERE/WHEN: The upper level of the Glenneyre parking structure at 400 Glenneyre. Thursday, Sept. 29, 5-9 p.m.
WHY GO? There will be entertainment, music and food from more than dozen of Laguna Beach’s finest restaurants.
PRICE: $25 in advance, $35 at the gate.

Why go: Featuring lots of food, carnival rides and games for children. Plenty of live entertainment including musicians and folk dancers will keep things vibrant

Why go: More than 3,400 vehicles will be on display, including an entire pavilion devoted to hot rods, muscle cars, classics and antiques for sale. Proceeds benefit the City of Hope's prostate cancer program.
Pricing: $12 for age 12 and up, $10 for Auto Club members, free for children under age 12


Where/When: Doheny State Beach; 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday
Why go: This celebration of stand-up paddling is a racing competition, industry expo, and festival rolled into one. Plus, there are still open spots for Sunday's relay competition, so grab three buddies and paddle!
Pricing: $15 to $200 to enter races


Where/When: Pacific Coast Highway and Niguel Road, Dana Point; 9 a.m. Saturday
Why go: Plenty of barbecue, plus a dessert competition.
Pricing: Free admission


Where/When: Various restaurants around the county; starts Sunday
Why go: Dozens of local restaurants have delicious three-course prix-fixe menus highlighting wines or wine flights. (Think rosé and mochi ice cream at Katsuya or roasted duck breast with pinot noir at Savannah Chop House.)
Pricing: $25 to $55
