Gray Whale Calf Spotted Playing Off Coast Of Victoria Beach: Photos
Beach-goers were delighted to catch a rare sight this week: a gray whale calf playing near the shore, just off the coast of Laguna Beach.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA β The coast of Laguna Beach was a special place to be this week, after several gray whale calf sightings were reported off the coast of Victoria Beach.
These heartwarming shots of a baby gray whale showing off some moves in front of beach-goers was shot by Naturalist Laura Lopez for Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching.

"The highlight of the week was watching a northbound gray whale cow/calf pair swimming together off Victoria Beach," Dana Wharf COO Donna Kalez told Patch. "They clearly entertained whale watchers and beach-goers as this calf was 'playing,' [meaning it] was displaying surface behaviors including breaching, spy-hopping and bubble-blasting."
