Heavy Traffic Expected As Patriots Day Gears Up In Laguna Beach

Laguna Beach residents can expect road closures downtown as well as parking restrictions throughout Saturday as a part of the parade.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” The 56th Annual Patriots Day Parade is underway in Laguna Beach, and residents can expect road closures and parking restrictions through the day as the parade takes place.

To make way for the parade, city crews will shut down Park Avenue, Glenneyre Street β€” from Cleo to Forest Avenue β€” Legion Street and Forest Avenue from 9:45 a.m. until 1:30 p.m., with additional parking restrictions in place.

In addition, Beach Street, 2nd Street, 3rd Street, Mermaid Street, Short Street and the Pepper Tree Parking lot will be closed to traffic prior to the parade. The weekly farmer's market was also canceled and will return on March 11.

The route from the parade will start at Laguna Beach High School, 625 Park Ave., before proceeding down Park Avenue to Glenneyre Street, turning right, and proceeding to Forest Avenue.

The parade will then head toward Laguna Beach City Hall before dispersing down Ocean Avenue.

The Patriots Day Parade has been held annually since 1967, and entries in the event range from civic and veterans' organizations to school bands, floats, vintage automobiles and novelty groups.

The parade also honors citizens who have served the community, and those who have served the nation in time of war or national emergency.

The 2023 Patriots Day Parade will take place Saturday, March 4 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Residents are encouraged to take the city's free trolley and the Laguna Local on-demand services.
