Help Make Laguna Beach 'Water Wise' For 8th Year: Mayor Asks For Help
City of Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Whalen asks all to help the city join the Wyland National Mayor's Challenge for Water Conservation.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β Laguna Beach Mayor Bob Whalen and the Laguna Beach County Water District are once again challenging residents to defend Laguna Beachβs title of βMost Waterwise City.β
Laguna Beach has won the title seven times since first participating in the annual competition twelve years ago.

βSince its inception, our residents have embraced the challenge and shown the nation that water use efficiency and sustainability are an integral part of living in California where droughts are increasing in intensity and length,β Whalen said in a recent news release. βThis challenge serves as a reminder of the important role each of us play in the protection and conservation of our natural resources.β

The annual non-profit national community service campaign encourages leaders to inspire their residents, between April 1-30, to commit to making small changes at mywaterpledge.com to use water more efficiently, reduce pollution, and save energy.
There are individual and community prizes offered during the month of April. The water pledge website is coordinated by the Wyland Foundation, whose mission is to promote, protect and preserve the world's ocean, waterways and marine life.
