Honor Black History Month All Month Long In Laguna Beach

The City of Laguna Beach, in partnership with We All Matter, is hosting a number of events this February in honor of Black History Month.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Are you looking for ways to honor Ethnic Diversity and Black History Month in Laguna Beach? The City of Laguna Beach, in partnership with "We All Matter," is hosting a slew of events designed to commemorate Ethnic Diversity and Black History Month in Laguna Beach.

Sponsored and organized by Rebecca Washington-Lindsey and her group, "We All Matter," this month's events aim to enrich residents through art and story-telling.

Laguna Beach residents are invited to join Washington-Lindsey and the "We All Matter" team Feb. 24 for the "Living Together In Unity" reception. The event takes place at the Susi Q Center and starts at 6 p.m. Residents can RSVP or learn more information by emailing lbdiversity2022@gmail.com.

In addition, art-minded Laguna Beach residents can visit Laguna Beach City Hall to view "Anastasis," a temporary public art piece created by Laguna Beach sculptor Gerard Stripling. According to Stripling, the sculpture represents health, happiness and communication during times of uncertainty.

"Anastasis" will remain outside Laguna Beach City Hall throughout the month of February.

The Laguna Beach Library is also joining in on the celebration it hosts "Stories Around the World," a virtual event that is designed to bring far-reaching stories to Laguna Beach residents. "Stories Around the World" will be held on Feb. 17 and Feb. 24 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Zoom.

To register, residents can email the Laguna Beach Library. Craft kits are also available to pick up while supplies last.
