After They Found A Pile Of Misplaced Packages These Laguna Beach Police Officers Delivered
Don't fret if you see a police officer at your door. These Laguna Beach police officers did some good in the neighborhood this week.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA —This week, a Laguna resident reported finding a "package dump" of Amazon deliveries left behind some stairs, Laguna Beach Police said over social media.
Late Wednesday, local authorities learned of the numerous Amazon packages left behind an apartment stairway, according to Lt. Jim Cota.
Officers located 27 packages shipped to various addresses throughout Laguna Beach, Cota says.

Rather than waiting for Amazon to pick up the packages the next day, the night shift officers split up the boxes.
"They personally delivered all of them to their respective addresses," Cota said. And it wasn't even Christmas yet. This isn't the first time Laguna Beach's finest have played the Good Samaritan when stolen packages were recovered.

Last December, packages jettisoned from a container on Nyes Place were all returned to their rightful owners. At the time, Cota explained to Patch that the corporation "writes off" misdelivered items with an insurance claim and re-sends out the goods.
Still, instead of donating the items, as suggested by the mega-retailer, Laguna Beach Police Officers decided to return each to their rightful owner.
Cota explained that in Laguna Beach, being a police officer is much more than law enforcement. "For us, it's about the people and the customer service that goes along with it."
Patch has yet to learn if a driver dumped the boxes or if porch pirates pilfered the packages from homes across the city.
"If it was a driver who stuck them there, they'll be fired for sure," one commenter on Facebook suggested.
"Maybe it was someone stealing packages from people's doorsteps," Cyrus Polk suggested that the "loot" was likely stored in one place on the Laguna Locals Facebook page. "I wouldn't be so quick to judge."
Either way, residents agree it was good to see local authorities going the extra mile for people expecting deliveries.
