Laguna Beach 2017 Patriot's Parade Honors Local Heroes

Hundreds will take part in Patriot's Day Parade. Parade Most Downtown streets will be closed on Saturday March 4, 2017.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The Laguna Beach Patriot's Parade is honoring some of the city's favorite citizens for 2017.

  • Aria and Makenzie Fischer - Grand Marshals
  • Robert W. Sternfels USAAF- Honored Patriot
  • Douglas Miller- Citizen of the Year
  • John Barber-Artist of the Year
  • Madison Sinclair and Wyatt Shipp -2017 Junior Citizens of the Year
  • Claire Tigner- 2017 Essay Winner
  • Jared Ghetian- 2017 Cover Artist

The Laguna Beach Patriot's Day Parade began in 1967, thanks to the Daughters of the American Revolution. Grand Marshals of the 1967 event were Walter and Cordelia Knott of Knotts Berry Farm.

"The the residents of Laguna Beach have every reason for pride in our community. We welcome you to join with us in honoring patriotism in America every year on the first Saturday in March," parade organizers said. "Come to downtown Laguna Beach and stay all day, and celebrate our freedom the American Way!"

The Parade Route promised to close most downtown streets, Saturday, March 4.

Drivers in the area were told to expect traffic delays and to use Coast Highway as an alternative route.

The first Saturday in March Patriot's Day Parade tradition draws patriots from all across Laguna Beach, from every walk of life, according to organizers.

"Our differences are reflected in the practice of democracy during the election process," they said. "After the people’s voice has been heard and our elected representatives assume their offices, we believe it is good to remind ourselves once again that there is but one nation, the United States of America."
