Laguna Beach Congregants Honor And Pray For Laguna Woods Victims
Congregations across Laguna Beach are praying for the victims of the shooting at a Laguna Woods church.
LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Congregations across Laguna Beach are saying a prayers for the victims of a shooting at Geneva Presbyterian Church in Laguna Woods that killed one doctor and wounded five other parishioners Sunday, the Laguna Beach Indy reported.
Dr. John Cheng, 52, was killed in the incident and called a hero by the Orange County Sheriff's Department for attempting to subdue the shooter.
Senior Pastor for Laguna Presbyterian Church Rev. Steve Sweet wrote to his congregation to be "ardent in prayer" for the victims and their families, the Laguna Beach Indy reported.

The shooting occurred at Geneva Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon, during a lunch banquet held by a Taiwanese Presbyterian congregation. Laguna Presbyterian Church and Geneva Presbyterian Church are both part of the 44-church Los Ranchos Presbytery that spans Greater Los Angeles.
Laguna Beach police Sgt. Jason Farris led a safety and awareness training for Laguna Presbyterian Church staff on Wednesday, according to a post on the Church’s Instagram page.
