Laguna Beach Fire Department Now Hiring Firefighters: What To Know
Firefighters Wanted: An employment opportunity is open with the Laguna Beach Fire Department for a limited time.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — The Laguna Beach Fire Department is accepting applications for firefighters starting Monday, April 3, through 5 p.m. Monday, April 10, a spokesperson for the department said.
The written exam was available starting Monday, according to Laguna Beach Battalion Chief Crissy Teichmann, who posted the announcement.
"The first 200 completed online applications received with proof of required licenses and certifications and that have completed the Firefighter National Testing Network exam by April 10 will be reviewed to be considered for advancement to the testing process," according to the job posting. "Those recommended for further evaluation will be invited to participate in the Biddle Physical Ability Test, which is comprised of several physical tasks consistent with the duties of a Firefighter."

When you work for the Laguna Beach Fire Department, firefighters are assigned to a 24-hour fire suppression and rescue shift. Candidates would respond to various emergencies, including fire, medical, and environmental. They would engage in fire prevention, suppression, and salvage activities and perform inspection and code enforcement activities. Firefighters are required to maintain fire apparatus, equipment and grounds. They also attend and participate in various training sessions and exercises and perform hydrant maintenance and company fire inspection.
The Firefighter will also be required to initiate emergency care to injured or ill patients and render first aid and lifesaving techniques within the scope of practice as an Emergency Medical Technician.

The position may be assigned special projects or other related duties as required and may also be assigned to a 40-hour work week. Qualified Firefighter applicants with State of California Paramedic License are desirable.
The Biddle Test would tentatively be scheduled for April 29 and April 30.
"Those who pass the Physical Ability Test will be placed on an eligibility list to be considered for Panel Interviews," the job posting said. "Based upon the City's needs the selection process may be modified."
