Laguna Beach Firefighters Lend Aid With California Wildfires

Firefighters from the Laguna Beach Fire Department are lending a hand with wildfires across the state.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach Firefighters are lending a hand battling fires in central California, the city of Laguna Beach reported. Firefighters have assisted with multiple blazes, including the Holser Fire, near Lake Piru, and the Carmel Vegetation Fire.

On Friday, the Holser Fire crew is rejoining their team at the Carmel Vegetation Fire, the city reported.

City Manager John Pietig spoke on their efforts.

"I am proud of our firefighters for assisting where they can, and I hope for a safe and quick return for our team," Pietig said.

Sending fire crews north during such a dramatic fire season is part of the state mutual aid system.

"It only works because of the commitment from cities like ours, that participate and help when needed," Pietig says.
