Laguna Beach Firefighters Respond To Oak Fire In Mariposa County
A team of Laguna Beach firefighters are hard at work creating containment lines to quell the Oak Fire burning in Mariposa County.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β A team of Laguna Beach firefighters journeyed upstate this week as the fire department's Type III Wildland Engine was dispatched as part of a five engine strike team to respond to the Oak Fire burning in Mariposa County, the city said in a news release.
The team was deployed on July 23 and are currently working alongside bulldozers and firing teams to build containment lines. As of Thursday, the Oak Fire had burned 19,156 acres and was at 39 percent containment.
According to a city news release, there have been ten structures damaged and 116 structures destroyed by the fire. The cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
