Laguna Beach Lifeguards Win Big In CA Gold Race In Newport Beach
The Laguna Beach Ocean Lifeguard Foundation received $1,000 to help low-income families enroll in the junior lifeguard program.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Off-duty Laguna Beach lifeguards took home a big win for their community, after winning the California Gold race in Newport Beach on Saturday, Oct. 15.
By winning the event, the Laguna Beach Ocean Lifeguard Foundation received $1,000 to help low-income families with enrolling in the Laguna Beach Junior Lifeguard program, the city said in a statement.
The California Gold race includes 28 miles of coastline racing with four ocean sport disciplines. It is held every year in memory of Newport Beach Ocean Lifeguard, Ben Carlson, who passed away in the line of duty on July 6, 2014.
