Laguna Beach Police Receive $110K To Deter Distracted Drivers: Report

The grant money will allow Laguna Beach police officers to roll out a police traffic services program to discourage dangerous driving.

LAGUNA BEACH, CA β€” The Laguna Beach Police Department was recently awarded a $110,000 grant from the Office of Traffic Safety, the Laguna Beach Independent reported.

The grant money will fund a police traffic services program to discourage dangerous driving behaviors. The grant program is expected to run through Sept. 2023, the report said.

β€œImpairment, speeding and other dangerous driving behaviors put the community at risk on the road,” Lieutenant Cornelius Ashton told the Laguna Beach Independent. β€œThis funding affords the Laguna Beach Police Department the ability to allocate resources towards community education and increased traffic enforcement measures. Ultimately, the goal is to reduce serious injury and fatal crashes on our roads.”
