KelpFest Returns To Laguna Beach After Two Year Hiatus: Photos

LAGUNA BEACH, CA — Laguna Beach residents took to Main Beach Saturday to learn more about their city's unique underwater ecosystem, as well as the kelp that helps it thrive.

The Laguna Ocean Foundation hosted its annual KelpFest Saturday, and residents enjoyed activities, informational booths and educational resources about the shoreline and ecology of Laguna Beach.

This year's KelpFest comes after the COVID-19 pandemic shut down the festival for two consecutive years.

The event is designed to show Laguna Beach residents how kelp, sea grass and underwater algae serve as primary producers for ocean waters by fostering a wide variety of marine life through their roles in food and shelter for marine mammals, fish and invertebrates.
