Laguna Beach Spring Events This April: OC Parks

LAGUNA BEACH, CA —When the rain finally stops, it's time to get outside and see all of the beautiful things to do in and around Laguna Beach this spring.

OC Parks announced a whole slew of scheduled events for the Spring designed to get Orange County residents out and engaged with all of the natural beauty the county's parks, beaches and trails have to offer.

  • April 7, 14, 21, 28 – Wild Tales
    • 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. | Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, Newport Beach
    • Wild Tales is offered every Friday and includes a different outdoor story time in our newly renovated amphitheater, an age-appropriate hike and a craft project in our classroom each week.
  • April 7– Beginners Bird Walk
    • 8 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. | Ralph B. Clark Regional Park, Buena Park.
    • Join in and meet others who share your interest in nature! During this easy, slow-paced walk, we will learn the basics of bird watching and discover the feathered gems within the park. All are welcome and loaner binoculars will be available. The program is free, but parking is $3 per vehicle.
  • April 14 – OC Parks Volunteer Information Night
    • 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. | Irvine Regional Park, Irvine
    • Join OC Parks staff and volunteers at Irvine Regional Park's Soda Fountain Pavilion to learn about the various volunteer opportunities available at many OC Parks facilities. Visit park booths to meet staff, ask questions and learn what a “day in the life” of a typical volunteer at that facility would be like. Visit as many or as few park booths as you are interested in. This is ideal if you are interested in learning more about the OC Parks Volunteer Program, need assistance getting connected with a park facility, or are an existing volunteer and would like to expand your volunteer role in OC Parks. Light refreshments will be provided and parking is free. Registration is recommended but not required.
  • April 21 – Tot Walk: Aliso and Wood Visitor Center
    • 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. | Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park, Aliso Viejo
    • Join OC Parks naturalists and bring your young ones (infant to age 3) to explore Aliso’s wild backyard. Take a leisurely stroll through the garden and to the creek. We will see bugs, plants and birds while exploring! OC Parks staff may even lead a game or introduce a local resident to the children. This program begins at the Aliso and Wood Visitor Center at Aliso and Wood Canyons Wilderness Park. Come join the fun!
  • April 22 – Earth Day at the Bay
    • 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. | Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve, Newport Beach
    • OC Parks and the Newport Bay Conservancy invite you to attend our annual celebration: Earth Day at the Bay. This free, family-friendly event features environmental-themed exhibits from community partners and local artists. Booths will feature activities which include arts and crafts, science discovery and educational information. There will be live music throughout the day as well as a scavenger hunt complete with prizes. Be sure to enter the opportunity drawing as well! Food trucks will be on site with tasty treats available for purchase.
  • April 22 – Endangered Species Program for Ages 5-6
    • 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. | OC Zoo at Irvine Regional Park
    • This program is for ages 5-6 ONLY. Come learn about endangered species on Earth Day! Class includes hands-on learning, fun crafts and meeting zoo creatures up close. Cost is $5 per child (one parent included). Parent must accompany child for entire program. Phone registration is required. Parking fee is $5 per car on weekends.

  • April 27 – Magnificent Mammals Preschool Program
    • 10:15 to 11:15 a.m. | OC Zoo at Irvine Regional Park
    • Class includes hands-on learning, fun crafts, and meeting zoo creatures up close! Program is for ages 3-4 ONLY. Cost is $5 per child (one parent included). Parent must accompany child for entire program. Phone registration is required. Parking fee is $3 per car on weekdays.
