LAGUNA BEACH, CA — A high surf advisory was in place in Laguna Beach through Thursday, officials report. Large breaking waves of between 4- to 7-feet were expeted through the night, into Thursday.

Strong rip currents are expected and the National Weather Service advises all that swimming conditions in the ocean are dangerous, and not for the inexperienced.

According to the local Surfline surf report, this is the largest surf Laguna Beach and Orange County has seen in some time.

The peaking west, northwest swell has spots locally at chest-high, with some larger waves expected, according to Surfline forecasters.

Always swim near a lifeguard, and never swim alone.

The high surf advisory was expected to be cleared by 1 a.m. Thursday, the National Weather Service reported.

Residents can expect moderate daytime temperatures from 75 degrees Fahrenheit to 79 degrees Fahrenheit through the wind advisory.
