LAGUNA BEACH, CA — It is 69 flights of stairs, 1,356 steps, a rise of 788 feet in vertical elevation, and yet nothing by comparison to what those with leukemia and lymphoma face when battling their disease.

The Laguna Beach Firefighters are practicing for their participation in the March LLS Stair Climb at Columbia Center in Seattle, Wash. on March 10. They will join a total of 2,000 participants in that climb competition, the department said.

"Before we ascend the Columbia Center in downtown Seattle, we are raising funds throughout the season in the name of finding a cure," they said. "Please consider making a donation not only to help me achieve our personal goal, but to benefit patients and their families everywhere."

The department was pleased to be able to return a team of our firefighters for the event, including firefighter Forrest Lazicki, who has been with the department since 2014.
