In singles, the two Breakers seeds, Lauren Michaels and Claire Jaeger, were no stranger to the Championship Crown. Both Michaels and Jaeger were the only two freshman to make the Varsity squad four years ago.

As freshman, both girls were on the starting lineup in both Singles and Doubles during season and finished the season as the Doubles League Champions. It is no surprise that the eventual Co-Captains would end up battling each other for the top singles crown four years later.

Both Michaels and Jaeger were dominant the entire tournament, as Michaels did not drop a single game until the final match and Jaeger only gave up one game.

The final match was tough, as the teammates and friends had to compete against each other. The feeling on the court was intense as the players displayed extreme respect for each other and the challenge that they both faced.

In the end, Michaels held true to her seed with a final score of 6-2, 6-2.

In Doubles, the Breakers had duplicate names as the singles draw. The younger siblings of the top two singles players in the league were found on the doubles side. Like their sisters, Sophomore Brooke Michaels and Freshman Bailey Jaeger also played singles and doubles during the season. Like sister Lauren, Brooke Michaels ended the season as the League Doubles Champion with partner Kira Hamilton.

With three of the four final doubles teams coming from the Breakers squad, the Breakers were forced to face each other in the semi finals. #2 Seed and the only Juniors on the team, Chloe Mansour and Katelyn Bo, had the challenge of playing two of their doubles teammates this final day.

In the Semi Finals, Mansour/Bo faced Nederlander/Jaeger in a tough match. The score did not depict the competitive match that seemed to have games as long as marathons, as they went in and out of deuce points numerous times.

With Mansour/Bo earning the win (6-1, 6-1) they would have to face fellow teammates and #1 seeded players Brooke Michaels and Kira Hamilton. The fellow juniors put up a good fight, forcing many more deuce battles, but the Michaels/Hamilton duo proved to be too strong, winning the final match (6-1,6-2).

The playoff for third and fourth place put Nederlander/Jaeger against Costa Mesa's Vu/Dang. Nederlander/Jaeger finished strong (6-1,6-1).

In the Individual League Championship tournament, no Breaker fell to anyone other than a teammate. Senior and co-captain Kate McMahon was unfortunate to have to meet teammate Claire Jaeger the first day of competition in the quarter final round, falling (6-0, 6-0) to Jaeger.

First year Coach Don Davis was extremely proud of his players earning top honors in both singles and doubles. In addition, the Orange Coast League MVP was awarded to Lauren Michaels and many Orange Coast ALL League Honors and MVP honors went to the Breakers as well.

Breakers to play first round of Division I playoffs at home.

The Breakers are set to play Northwood High School of the Pacific Coast League on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 2 p.m. at Laguna Beach High. The second round of play will be held Saturday, Nov. 12 at 2 p.m., with the location yet to be determined.

The first and second-place league individual finalists in singles and doubles head to individual CIF playoffs on Nov. 18.
