UPDATED: Laguna Beach School Bus Driver Strike Averted For Now

The drivers union had reportedly authorized a labor action.

UPDATED, 10:29 P.M. FRIDAY: The Register reports that a Monday strike has been averted. Labor negotiations between Durham and the union are expected to go on until the middle of next week.

ORIGINAL POST: Got kids in ? Then get ready for a possible school bus strike that could hit as soon as Monday.

The Orange County Register is reporting that drivers employed by Durham School Services, which operates the buses and routes in the LBUSD, have authorized a strike through their union, Teamsters Local 952.

The strike could also affect students in the Irvine Unified School District, which has posted this strike info on its website.

If a strike happens, LBUSD rep Norma Shelton says they will open schools earlier and keep them open later, making it easier for parents to drop off or pick up their kids. (No mention of the almost-certain traffic nightmare this would create, though.)
